Metal Blade

Slayer Albums - The Sound Of Hardcore Metal
The band was formed in Huntington, California in 1981. With the release of their 11 studio Slayer albums, the group has been considered among the forefront of trash metal rock, not just in the United States, but also around the globe.
The band is currently composed of Jeff Hanneman (guitar), Tom Araya (vocals), Dave Lombardo (drums), and Kerry King (guitar). During those times they would practice while wearing band merch of the bands that influenced them.
'Show No Mercy', released in December of 1983, is the band's debut album and was released through Metal Blade Records. It has been for its poor recording quality. It sold about 20,000 copies which was Metal Blade Records' highest selling release. The promote the album, the band went on their first nationwide tour albeit on their own expense. Needless to say, did they not earn much from the tour.
In 1985, the band followed up their initial release with their second album, 'Hell Awaits'. This time it was financed by Metal Blade Records as opposed to the first album which was made from the pockets of Tom Araya and some money that they borrowed from King's father. 'Hell Awaits', as the name itself suggests, is darker with more Satanic references.
The third of the Slayer albums was the 'Reign in Blood' which was released on October 7, 1986. It was their first album that ever reached the Billboard 200. It was also their first, among many, collaboration with Rick Rubin of Def Jam Recordings. It was around this time that the demand for Slayer merch started.
'South of Heaven' was released on July 5, 1988 and was notable for the slowing down in tempo of the band's songs which was not well received by critics at that time. It also reached the Billboard 200 and eventually became a certified gold record album.
It was followed in October 9, 1990 by the 'Seasons in the Abyss' album which they recorded with American Recordings. This time the album got better reviews from the critics as compared to their previous album.
On September 27, 1994 the band released their sixth studio album titled 'Divine Intervention'. It was the first album that featured Paul Bostaph on drums after their long time drummer, Dave Lombardo, decided to leave.
'Undisputed Attitude' was their seventh studio album and was released on May 28, 1996. The album is just a collection of punk cover songs from artists they consider as having made an influence on their style such as Iggy Pop, D.R.I., and Minor Threat.
'Diabolus in Musica' was their next studio album and was considered to be their most experimental work. Jeff Hanneman wrote most of the songs in the album. It was released on June 9, 1998.
On September 11, 2001, coinciding with the terrorist attacks in the United States, the band released 'God Hates Us All'. It caused some controversy for the band for the timing of the launch. It was also the last time that Paul Bostaph played with them.
'Christ Illusion' entered the highest rank they ever did on Billboard 200 which was at 5. The album generally received positive reviews when it was released on August 8, 2006.
The latest of the Slayer albums was released on the 3rd of November, 2009 and was titled 'World Painted Blood'. It garnered positive reviews and reached the Billboard 200 once again.
