temporarily, while i remove the lower panel to repair the bow in the wood? is it a safety issue with the lighter weight being hoisted up?
Answer:
Yes it will still operate although as someone else already pointed out the lighter weight will definitely affect the spring torsion pressure and may cause the mechanism to jerk the door open fast.
