Year 9 SATs Student Instructions

Before each test you will need to assemble at special assembly places ready to be taken into the test room. Your tutor will inform you of these assembly places.

Once you are in the test room you must not speak or communicate with anyone. You must face the front and not turn round. If at anytime before, during or after the end of the test and while students are still in the test room you turn round, make signals or speak you will be reported to the test authority and as a result you may be disqualified. Any disruption that prevents other students from doing their best comes under the same heading and will be reported. If you drop any item, or have a problem, then you should put up your hand and wait for the test supervisor to come to you.

Equipment Needed for the SATs

You will find yourself at a disadvantage if you fail to bring the correct equipment for your tests. All tests will require a black (or blue) ink pen (e.g., ball point) and a pencil. A spare pen is advised. For the mathematics tests you must also have a ruler (cm & mm), a rubber (although a rubber is not allowed for the mental arithmetic test), calculator (except for paper 1), angle measurer or protractor and a compass (tracing paper and a mirror will be provided if required, although you may wish to bring your own). All the science tests also require a ruler, rubber, calculator and protractor. No dictionaries, spellcheckers, thesauri or any written notes are allowed in any tests.
