Frequently Asked Questions...
How to stock a bar for a small party?
My twin and I are turning 21 soon, and would like to have a party in our home. We would like a few alcoholic drinks available, but only half of our guests, if that, will be of age (so let's figure that's about 15 people).
So please tell me this: if you were to go to a party, and there was only one drink available, what would you like it to be? Please list one alcoholic drink and one non-alcoholic drink.
I was hoping for a few suggestions of cocktails for a somewhat more formal party, but thanks
Answer:
Congratulations on turning 21!
I threw a big party last New Year's Eve and I made three cocktails ahead of time and put them on ice in the fridge. One of them in particular was very popular and we ran out twice. It's called a Pink Paradise:
1-1/2oz coconut rum
1 oz amaretto
3 oz cranberry juice
1-1/2 oz pineapple juice
Combine all ingredients in ice filled hurricane or parfait glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry.

Another popular and easy drink is an ounce of coconut rum on ice, topped with pineapple juice in a large glass.

This drink is vodka based and is so pretty in a martini glass, although any glass such as a wine glass will do. It's called a Crantini:
1 C. cranberry juice
1/2 c. citrus vodka (or 1/2 c. vodka and 2 tsp. lemon juice)
1/4 c. triple sec (or orange juice)
1 tsp lime juice
Garnish with a lime slice and 2-3 fresh cranberries.

For a non-alcoholic drink I'd offer a peach iced tea, sodas or a non-alcoholic fruit punch.
