TUTORIAL AGENDA ARRANGEMENTS
Topics to be discussed and agreed with your tutor at your regular tutorials are:
We will review whether I have successfully achieved my targets. I will ask staff to sign off any targets I have met.
I’ll ask one of my subject teachers to identify a strength and an area for improvement in my work. We will look at ways of exploiting my strength and strengthening my weakness!
(SLIP to record this is available)
I’ll identify my preferred learning style. There is a questionnaire on the network that enables me to do this. I will either download the questionnaire beforehand or complete it in the session. We will look at ways of making use of my preferences to maximise my learning effectiveness.
I’ll bring one of my subject folders so we can look at my organisational skills and consider any improvements that I might make.
I’ll have an interview with the Connexions Careers person and come back with the sheet they will give me detailing my interview.
Using the ‘Occupations’ or reference books in the library I’ll look up two or three jobs or careers that interest me. I’ll find out what they involve and how to get into these areas. We can talk about what kind of person might be suited to these jobs and whether that’s me! (Student sheet
JUST THE JOB is available)
I’ll look up information about the facilities, location, student union & leisure opportunities at three universities I might be interested in going to. I’ll try their website (www.ucas.com), prospectus & check out some of the books in the library and Year Office. We can talk about what makes for a good university! (Sheet available for this)
We will go through my electronic UCAS application and try to complete it so I’ll bring my disk and/or a printed version.
I’ll bring my UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) draft form to go through with you.
I’ll find and use the help folder on the network and we will go through what I have written. (public folder, post 16, help with UCAS
application)
I’ll ask my teachers if there is a particular web site I might find useful to access and we will have a look at it.
We will have a look at some revision web sites and see if any are of use to me.
I’ll bring my revision timetable for us to go through.
I’ll ask my teachers for the figures on my attendance and we will look at whether this figure is what I expected and if there is anything we need to do about it! (Slip available)
I’ll ask my subject teacher to indicate whether or not I’m achieving my target grade. We will discuss this together next time.
I’ll think about activities I could get involved in to help my all round development and to mention in my applications. I’ll use the list of possibles to give me some ideas. (List of possibles in the post 16 filing cabinet)
Because I am doing unpaid work or am involved in an activity that involves the wider community I can register as a Millennium Volunteer. We will fill in the registration forms together and I can start to keep a log of my hours. (3 forms to complete available on the network or in filing cabinet)
We will discuss a possible work placement. I’ll bring along an application form and we will go through it together.
I’ll ask my employer to identify three good things about me as an employee and ONE thing I need to work on still . We’ll look at what they say!
(LETTER format available)
I’ll get my Student File up to date and make sure I have all the grades and Dialogue Sheets from my difference courses.
