ART AS & A2

The first part is the Advanced Subsidiary, which can be combined with the second part, A2 to form the Advanced Level qualification. As well as forming the first half (50%) of the Advanced Level, the AS may be used as a stand-alone qualification.

Although a qualification at GCSE in Art & Design is not a requirement the new AS examination should build upon the knowledge, skills and understanding normally developed in GCSE courses.

Candidates may follow of one three options:

FINE ART:

Candidates are required to work in one or more of the following areas

 Painting

 Drawing

 Mixed media including collage and assemblage

 Sculpture

or

TEXTILES:

Candidates are required to work in one or more of the following areas

 Painting

 Drawing

 Constructed textiles

 Printed and/or dyed fabric and materials

or

UNENDORSED:

Candidates are required to work in at least two of the following areas

 Painting

 Drawing

 Mixed media including collage and assemblage

 Constructed textiles

 Printed and/or dyed fabric and materials
