BUSINESS STUDIES A SUBJECT CHOICE

 Business Studies is one of the fastest growing subjects in the country at present. The course is designed to meet the changing nature of the world of business in which the more traditional business skills are linked to the most modern technology.

Throughout the course you will study many business contexts and will have to research, analyse, evaluate and draw conclusions. You will be encouraged to communicate your ideas and proposals clearly and effectively.

Course Structure

During the course you will work on five units of work, as follows:

• Unit 1 – Business and its Environment
• Unit 2 – Human Resources
• Unit 3 – Finance and Accounting
• Unit 4 - Marketing
• Unit 5 - Production

Some information technology skills are developed in all the units as an aid to developing business skills.

Assessment: The GCSE Business Studies Assessment consists of:

• An examination paper worth 75% of the total marks.
• Internal assessment of coursework, worth 25% of the total marks.

The paper is available in two tiers of assessment:

Foundation Tier C – G

Higher Tier D – A*
