
Business Studies
Course Summary
This course provides students with an insight into the functions of business in today’s society. It encourages students to become familiar with local and national current issues to enable them to apply the theoretical concepts of the subject to real life.
Course Structure
The course is divided into six units. Three units will be examined at the end of the first year of the course, and successful candidates will be awarded a grade at Advanced Subsidiary level. (AS). Students may then leave the course and perhaps study another AS in a different subject. For those remaining, a further three units will be examined at the end of the following year, and successful students will be awarded a grade at Advanced Level. (A2).
The examination questions will be stimulus response, a case study for AS and two case studies, a business report and essays or coursework for A2.

Career prospects
Business Studies is studied at the vast majority of universities and colleges of education. The subject appeals to students who want to go into specific areas of business management e.g. Marketing or Accounts. The nature of the subject means it will compliment most other subjects, as Post-16 students are the Managers of the future.
