This course is for those who like to draw and design and want to improve and widen their skills. It is about problem-solving through Graphics. Although there are some areas of overlap, it is substantially different to traditional Technical Drawing courses but still requires you to have some mathematical skills and enjoy geometry. You will be encouraged to use a wide variety of media, including colour pencils, markers, water colour, pen and ink etc., in the solution of design problems. A knowledge of computers and the ability to use them in design situations is useful. The department has a comprehensive range of computers, including eight machines within the Graphics area. You will be encouraged to use these as often as possible. There are dedicated Computer Aided Design (C.A.D.) / Computer Aided Manufacture (C.A.M) facilities which you may use. This course would be suitable for those interested in a career in Graphic Design, Product Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Packaging and other related design occupations. For those of you who are looking for an alternative to traditional art-based courses, Graphic Products offers a course which will successfully bridge the gap between the old and the new.
