
Health & Social Care
The GCE in Health & Social Care has been designed to be delivered through work-related contexts, allowing students to develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the health and social care sector.
Why choose the Health & Social Care GCE?
The GCE in Health & Social Care allows students to build skills as well as technical knowledge. It gives them a broad base of understanding whilst allowing them also to focus on the four specialist areas:
- Health
- Early Years (Care and Education)
- Care of Older People
- Individuals with Specific Needs
Progression
The GCE in Health & Social Care qualifies for UCAS points. It gives students a wide choice of progression options into further study, training, or relevant employment.
Students who successfully complete the qualification will be well equipped to move onto degrees, BTEC Higher National Diplomas or NVQs.
Course structure
The qualification has an AS/A2 structure. It can take the form of:
- a Single Award AS GCE (3 units)
- a Single Award Advanced GCE (6 units)
- a Double Award AS GCE (6 units)
- a Double Award Advanced GCE (12 units)
