Leisure & Tourism GNVQ
Leisure and Tourism is the fastest growing employment sector in the UK’s economy. A GNVQ in Leisure and Tourism (Intermediate) will give you the opportunity to either progress onto the Advanced courses where you can specialise in either leisure or travel, or enter employment with training. The Intermediate award provides you with:
a broad background of understanding and core knowledge
a student centred approach to learning
the opportunity to link up with local leisure and tourism outlets
knowledge of the key components and functions of the leisure and recreation and the travel and tourism industries, and their products and services
an awareness of how leisure and tourism organisations operate as a business
an awareness of marketing, promotion and customer service concepts
the opportunity to study the growth of tourism, its importance to the UK economy and the positive and negative impacts of tourism
For the award of an Intermediate GNVQ, you must complete six Units. The table below gives you some idea of the scope of these Units.
