Hi all,
I am trying to find a way to convert a 16-Bit binary value to be displayed on a set of 5 7-Segment displays. It must be done using electronic components (no microcontrollers).
If there is a way to turn it into BCD then I can use BCD to 7 segment display drivers. However if there is a way to do it straight over that would be better.

0, I assume, you actually want to display ZERO? And I assume you want to display DECIMAL on the 7-segment display?

Assuming top 3 is 1,2,3, (from left to right), middle is 4, and bottom is 5, 6, 7

0 would be 1,2,3,5,6,7, or in the form of a byte in binary, 01110111
1 would be 3, 7, 01000100
2 would be 2,3,4,5,6... you can do the binary version.

Once you create the look-up table, you can then reduce the equations and use the gates or other microElectronics to create the stuff.

I personally would use a ROM, but that's up to you. :)
